Bermuda Dunes is a “Traditional” style golf course, designed by Billy Bell.(Also the designer of: Torrey Pines, Bakersfield and Newport Beach, Bel-Air, Riviera and Los Angeles country clubs, La Jolla Country Club, both courses at Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena, and the San Diego Country Club as well as collaborating for the design of possibly hundreds more.). It opened in 1959 and has been in the original rotation of the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic since the beginning of the Classic in 1960. PGA Professionals all agree that the course is not only beautiful & functional, but is “fun” to play with superb greens. Golf is played 11 months a year.(Closed in October for Rye Grass over seeding) The Club House overlooks the course and has a million dollar view of Mt. Jacinto (almost 11,000 feet high) It can accommodate small bridge groups to Member Guest events of 450 in one sitting. Most of the Staff has been with Bermuda Dunes several years and are extremely well trained and courteous. They know almost all of the members by name. The Membership is made up of a wide variety of walks of life. There are no strangers here, only friends you haven’t met. They come from all over the country, with approximately 1/3 from the Northwest, 1/3 from Southern Calif.. and 1/3 living in the desert permanently. Getting Tee Times is never a problem (see Golf Information) and the play is brisk. Anything over 4 hours is classified as very slow. Don’t have a game? Just show up at one of the several groups that play almost everyday and you will be included. A great way to make new golfing friends. Active summer golf programs: With the amount of very large trees that line the fairways, there is always shade. Each golfer can take his own cart during the summer, and with 4 carts per foursome, play moves very quickly. 3 hours or less is not unusual. There are several couples golfing events and dinner dances during the season. Lots of other events too including ; Bridge, Gin Rummy, Art Classes, Bible Studies, Member/Member tournaments, Member/Guest tournaments, Team golf for men and women.
